Alma Gonzales, a cherished mother, sister, daughter, and friend, left this world on May 2, 2025, in Pearland, Texas. Born on November 23, 1967, in Brownsville, Texas, Alma was a vibrant spirit whose love for life was palpable to all who knew her.
Alma is survived by her parents, Eusebio and Mary Torres, her beloved son, Jake Gonzales, and her devoted siblings: Brenda and her husband Kevin Claxton, Debra and her husband Randy Coker, and Junior and his wife Lynn Torres. She also leaves behind her brother Nick Torres, along with many nieces and nephews from the Torres family, including Zachary Almarez, Alexa Montemayor, Isaiah Torres, Stephan Torres, Elijah Torres, Hannah Torres, and Ava Torres. From the Gonzales family, she is survived by Alec and Nicole Gonzales, Alex Gonzales, Zane Gonzales, Christian Gonzales, Preston Gonzales, and Gabe Gonzales. Alma had a remarkable gift for building lasting relationships and maintained a close circle of friends she considered family, including Laura Guthrie, Rozie Salazar, Liz Rios, and Michelle Mares.
Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Alma had a special affinity for her Houston sports teams, proudly cheering on the Texans and Astros, showcasing her spirited nature. Her fondness for road trips and beach outings with Jake is a testament to her adventurous spirit. Alma found joy in the simple pleasures of life—collecting refrigerator magnets, admiring ladybugs, and embracing all things purple.
Alma was predeceased by her biological mother, Maria Del Refugio, her grandmother Eva Llamas, and her grandparents Monico and Lucy Torres. Her connection with her ex-husband, George Gonzales, remained strong because of their shared love for their son, Jake, showcasing her ability to nurture and cherish relationships throughout her life.
As we gather to honor Alma’s memory, we look forward to the visitation services that will take place at Integrity Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, on May 9, 2025.
