Hazel Marsyla

Hazel Maria Marsyla, born Hazel Pearl Minter, was the daughter of the late Loyd Sherman Minter and Lillie Evelyn Brent. She departed this life on the evening of Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at the age of 76.

She was predeceased by her husband Anton Marsyla, her son Stephen Herrera, her parents Loyd Minter and Lillie Brent, and her sisters Joyce, Rosie, Shirley and Franny.

Hazel was born in Lovelady, Texas on the 5th day of May 1946. As an older child, she and her family moved to Houston, a city she would come to love and call her home. Here, she would start and raise her family while also enjoying various career interests. In her ladder years of employment, using her vehicle, she contracted out as a personal Chauffeur to a Dutch cargo ship Captain named Anton "Pops" Marsyla. The two immediately fell in love and shortly after were happily married.

Throughout her years, Hazel would live a full and colorful life, including being able to travel the world with Pops and visit many countries. She will always be remembered for the love she held for her family and her committed willingness to be there for anyone in need. Her unforgettable presence and personality will be greatly missed by all who loved her dearly.

Hazel is survived by her daughter Melissa Hufford and her husband Steve, son Louis Herrera, daughter Felicia Herrera and her partner Arthur Gonzalez, son Guadalupe Salinas Jr and his wife Loretta-Lynn, son Walter Salinas and his wife Lucy, as well as, 29 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
