Jesusa "Susie" Garivey

January 21, 1945 — June 18, 2025

Jesusa "Susie" Garivey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Kendleton, Texas, on January 21, 1945. Susie spent her formative years in Rosenberg, Texas, where she attended Robert E. Lee school until the sixth grade.

Showing remarkable strength and devotion, Susie left school to assist her ailing mother, a testament to her unwavering commitment to family.

Throughout her life, Susie worked diligently as a nurse's aide, a plant farm nursery worker, and a housekeeper, contributing her hard work and dedication to each role. She was a devout member of St. Pius Catholic Church, finding solace and community within its walls. Her faith remained a constant source of strength and guidance throughout her life.Beyond her professional life, Susie found joy in simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of the Houston Astros, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. She also enjoyed the friendly competition of dominoes, the mental stimulation of word puzzles, and the quiet comfort of reading her Bible. Above all, Susie cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, her face lighting up with love whenever they were near.

Susie's life was a testament to her steadfast strength, quiet grace, and deep love for her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. 

Susie is preceded in death by her father Agapito Anzaldua, mother Francisca Garcia, siblings Lala Sanchez, Chris Anzaldua, Bennie Anzaldua, Rosa Montalvo, Raymond Anzaldua, great-granddaughter Kinsley Rae King and grandson Blake Subinsky. 

Left to cherish her memory daughter Ronnie (Joe) Castellano; sons Joe Ray Garivey (Terri) Roy Garivey, Robert Garivey (Nanette), Raymond Garivey Jr., (Nancy) and Rene Garivey; grandchildren Jacob Ross, Richard, Robyn, Telisa, Amber, Joe, Sierra, Britney, Raymond III, Victoria, Anthony, Ashley, Brianna and Shianne; sister Maria Montalvo; brothers Robert Anzaldua and Alex Anzaldua; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers Raymond Garivey IlI, Jacob Ross Garivey, Richard Garivey, Justyn Contreras, Frank Mata and Anthony Garivey.
