Obituary

Joe Rojas Sr. lovingly known as Joey, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was born on September 14, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, and lived a life defined by deep compassion, dedication to family, and commitment to helping others.

Joe was a talented and creative carpenter who took pride in his work and felt fortunate to build a career in a field he loved. Outside of work, he found joy in classic rock music, attending concerts, watching movies, participating in recovery events, and, most of all, spending cherished moments with his family.

A devoted member of AA, Joe celebrated more than 15 years of sobriety. He was a source of guidance and encouragement to many; helping others find their path to recovery, one of his proudest, most meaningful accomplishments and a testament to his enduring kindness and strength.

Family was the cornerstone of Joe’s life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Teresa, with whom he shared in his life’s journey and love. Together, their family grew and blossomed with the presence of their children: Bernadette Flores; Joe Rojas Jr. (Michelle); Anna Gascey (Uzomg); Michael Rojas; and Angelica Rojas (Joshua). His legacy lives on vibrantly through his beloved grandchildren: Haley, Chloe, James, Jake, Jenna, Joe III, Sarah, Caleb, Ella, Xavier, Evie, and Damian, all of whom bring his memory to life every day.

He is also survived by his siblings, whom he was deeply connected with, Jessey, Robert, Chris, and Carolina; his stepmother, Martha Bautista-Rojas; and his father-in-law, Lawrence Selley. Joe will be fondly remembered by many extended family members and friends for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit. He never met a stranger, and his quick wit brought laughter to those around him.

Joe’s life was also marked by the memory of those who left before him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Janie Arredondo and Rafael Rojas; his siblings Rafael Jr., Rosemary, Anna, Harold, and Leonor; and his mother-in-law, Anita Selley.

A visitation will be held on April 29, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Integrity Funeral Home, 8601 Almeda Genoa Rd, Houston, TX 77075, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will take place the following day, April 30, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location, followed by Graveside Ceremony at 1:00pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Rojas Jr., Michael Rojas, Ernest Espinoza Jr., Martin Selley, John Arredondo, Jessey Rojas, Chris Rojas, and Robert Dise.

Joe’s life was a tapestry woven with love, courage, and generosity. Those who knew him will forever carry forward the light he shone so brightly. His memory will remain a guiding beacon for his family and all who were fortunate to know him. May he rest in peace.
