Maria Margarita Duran

June 10, 1965 — August 17, 2025

Maria Margarita Duran, 60, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

She was the devoted wife of Mario Duran and the loving mother of Mario Duran Jr., Karena Duran, and Daniel Duran. Margarita is also survived by her mother Maria Lucila Zuniga and siblings, Gilda Zuniga, Israel Zuniga, Estela Zuniga, and David Zuniga, along with many other relatives and friends whose lives she touched deeply.

Margarita lived a life of dedication, compassion, and faith. She worked for Pasadena ISD for 14 years while also managing the family business alongside her husband. She was a founding member of Cosecha Final Church in 1998, where she served faithfully and built lifelong friendships, and took part in mission trips to Mexico to share her faith and help others. Education was also one of Margarita’s greatest values; she proudly raised three college graduates and later achieved her own high school diploma, inspiring those around her through her perseverance.

She will be remembered for her generous heart and quiet acts of kindness—buying groceries for families in need, preparing food for the elderly, and reaching out to relatives who felt forgotten. Margarita was truly the glue of her family, dedicated to everything she did and everyone she loved.

Her joys in life were simple but meaningful. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, antique hunting, and redecorating her own home. She loved cooking—especially her pupusas, which she insisted always tasted best when made by her own hands—and had a sweet spot for berry chantilly cake from Whole Foods. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends, offering encouragement, guidance, and unconditional love.

Margarita leaves behind a legacy of devotion to her family, faith, and community. Her compassion and strength will continue to live on in the lives of those she cherished.

The family requests that guests wear bright and cheerful colors to celebrate Margarita's life.
