Michael Lee Cantu, 48, of Houston, Texas, was granted his angel wings on October 9, 2021 at 3:55 p.m. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he transitioned onto his new journey.
Mike’s time here seemed to be much shorter than most would’ve hoped for, but the memories of “Big Mike” are sure to be an example of understanding that his existence was a gift to us all and for that we are all forever grateful. Mike’s legacy will continue to live on through his beautiful children and grandson.
Our beloved Mike was known by special friends as the pride of SWAC, TSU, and Stephen F. Austin’s Offensive Lineman, #88.
As a young adult and with much determination, he went on to pursue his dreams of owning his own business. He operated “Prosteel Constructors” successfully for many years.
Mike met his former wife, Tanya Cantu and within a couple of years the two were married. They were blessed with beautiful children during their marriage and most recently they welcomed the birth of their grandson. He loved spending time with his children and grandson more than anything. His love for cooking and having his loved ones over for a goodtime is what brought Mike the most joy in life. One of his favorite things was to barbeque for his family and enjoy the afternoon surrounded by laughter and most importantly love.
He is preceded in death by his father Pablo Cantu Jr and stepfather David Martinez.
Michael is survived by his former wife Tanya Cantu, his children, Michael T. Cantu, Madison Cantu, and Natalia Cantu, his grandson, Jacob Cantu, his mother, Delia Martinez, his brothers, Pablo Cantu III and Orlando Cantu.
