SanJuana
Villalobos
April 6, 1944 – May 21, 2026
Con profundo amor y tristeza, we announce the passing of Sanjuana Mata Villalobos, who entered eternal rest on May 21, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 82.
Born on April 6, 1944, in La Obrera, Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Sanjuana was a woman of deep faith, immense strength, and unforgettable character. A true mujer de fe, she prayed before going to sleep each night and lovingly blessed those she cared for before they walked out the door with a “que Dios te bendiga,” a gesture many will carry in their hearts forever.
Sanjuana loved in her own way strongly, brutally honest and with what many would call amor duro (tough love). She was funny, sharp witted, and unforgettable, known for effortlessly creating nicknames for just about everyone whether loving, wisecracks, or somewhere in between. Her presence could fill a room, and her personality was one you simply never forgot.
She found joy in the things that reflected who she was: western wear, dancing, singing, collecting Tupperware and Princess House, and listening to her beloved radio located at her bedside. She especially loved seeing her family dressed up and ready to go out, particularly in their western attire.
Above all, Sanjuana was the heart of a family that extended far beyond titles. She was a loving mother to her children, Andrea Villalobos, Diana Villalobos, Tony Villalobos, and Frank Villalobos. She was also a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. But for some of us, she was even more than that she stepped into the role of mother, raising her grandchildren Bonnie Velaquez, Dave Correa, Sabrina Sanchez, Amy Sanchez, Sanjuana Sanchez, Jesus Sanchez, and Tomas Villalobos loving in her own way and guiding us as her own. That kind of love and sacrifice leaves a mark that lasts forever. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Francisco Villalobos, and son Martin Villalobos, who preceded her in death.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing her faith carried her home. Her strength, humor, prayers, and unforgettable spirit will live on in every story told, every song that reminds us of her, and every blessing whispered as loved ones walk out the door.
Descansa en paz, Ama. Tu amor, tu riza, tu fuerza, y tu legado(legacy) vivirán para siempre.
