张颐椿先生生于1944年11月20日，上海的一个商人家庭，父亲经营皮鞋店和鸿升码头等。他在家中排行老三，上有大哥，二姐，下有三弟，四弟。1949年入学，先后入读四川北路小学淮海路中学，1961年进入上海工大（现在的上海大学）电机系电613班，61年同时获得香港签证，颐椿选择留在上海入学。颐椿是一位品学兼优的好学生，他学业文娱体育都很出色，中学的多项体育记录保持多年，大学曾担任班文娱委员。他是中学排球队，大学排球队第一主力队员，主扣手，大学期间和队员们一起，和复旦，同济决一高低，复旦是当时的冠军队，为上海工大排球史留下光辉一页。1966年，他入选排球上海高校队。 大学毕业他被分配在上海耀进电机厂，在机电局的一次外文考试中，他英文，日文，德文都是第一名，被调入上海电机公司工作，任第一任电机公司出口办经理，93年来美国，受市政府委托为上海的吴泾热电2期项目积极寻找合作公司。他努力学习新知识，以全班最高分获得7＊证券执照，曾从事证券交易多年。 张颐椿先生1970年和吴融融女士结婚，吴是电63年级学生，女排队员，他们68年从学校毕业后相恋，他们有一子。他们志趣相投，患难与共，生死相依。 张颐椿性格谦和，尊敬长辈，孝顺父母，友爱兄弟姐妹，爱护家人，礼让朋友。 他在生活中有机会接触到教会，了解耶稣基督救恩的福音，2019年在HBCC411教会受洗礼，在重病中坚持参加网上教会各项活动 。 2014年患胃癌，2022年12月20日因肺炎气管痰堵抢救进医院ICU病房3个月，23年3月21日下午4点50分，抢救无效离世。荣归天家，安居主怀。
